Democrats May Have Possibly Developed A Platform - Maybe

WASHHINGTON, D.C. – Almost a year after suffering tremendous losses in both state and federal government seats, the Democratic Party announced that it might have just maybe figured out a possible platform. Possibly.

The platform now being reviewed by top ranking Democratic officials is a continuation of the platform represented in the 2004 elections. With the new plan, Democrats hope to capitalize on some older ideas while mixing in new ones.

“After exhaustive meetings and more informal discussions at our super secret headquarters, we feel that we as a Democratic Party might have a new, possibly stronger platform for which to maybe stand on in future elections,” said Democratic Notional Committee Chairman Howard Dean. “We think that this new potential stance will help America consider wanting to get behind us… maybe. At least we hope.”

The 2004 platform, which consisted of the mantra “We Hate Bush,” was not as successful as Democratic leaders had hoped.

“It really made me crazy trying to figure out how a country where well more than half the people in it are not Christian and who don’t like President Bush could re-elect him,” said former Democratic Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. “We spent a majority of our time trying to explain to America what a terrible job Bush is doing and how he is taking this country to Hell in a hand basket but all it did was rally people behind him. I liken it to the retarded kid at school that everyone feels sorry for so they stick up for him even though they really can’t stand him.”

The new platform expands upon the 2004 mantra but ads a new spin with the new slogan “we still hate Bush because he is stupid.”

“We were originally going to go with a anti-gay theme, but that has been done into the ground,” Dean said. “So again, like last time, we might decide to possibly go with a similar theme but this time put a new spin on it like maybe showing Bush in women’s clothes or saying he hates Mexicans. But that really isn’t the meat of our platform. In addition to that, we may or may not have a focus on improving the economy and job growth. That will be hard to figure out so we may end up going with a focus on healthcare but Bush’s idea isn’t doing well. Either way, we will focus on something, maybe, here soon.”

While Democrats around the country are thinking that they might rally around this new platform, the Republican Party has already started it’s smearing of the possible platform.

“Yes, we all know that President Bush is stupid, that fact has been pointed out many, many times,” said Utah Senator Orin Hatch. “But obviously what the Democrats have wrong is the fact that they think everyone hates Bush. Do good, honest God fearing Christians hate him? Some, yes, but not a lot of them. Does God himself hate Bush? He doesn’t appear too. Do other people hate Bush? Yes, but that is beside the point. They are also trying to bring up economic issues. All I have to say to that is that all the people I know have a job and have plenty of money. Only dirty hippie liberals don’t have jobs. And what about healthcare issues? Our President has a great plan. Sure most of America doesn’t agree with it but that’s because they don’t understand. I don’t understand it either but I just have faith in Bush.”

Some Democrats are excited by the new direction of their political party and can’t wait to possibly help spread the word.

“Last election I was gonna vote and all that but an episode of Family Guy was on that I hadn’t seen… so I didn’t. But this next time around I will totally get out there and help tell people that the Democratic Party might stand for something possibly,” said student Theo “Gopher” Huron.
