DEIFT, NETHERLANDS – This fall, retailer IKEA will begin offering a new line of furniture designed specifically for holding large piles of random stuff.

“This design is to be a design for a person to… put all of their thing on,” said IKEA Director of New Products, Sven Borgenrt. “If you have a backpack you can put it on this chair. If you have a coat, you can put it on this chair. If you have a pencil, you can put it on this chair. If you have a machine that makes smaller machines you can put it on this chair. If you have one of those scooter thing that you see all over the city now you could put that on this chair. Anything, and everything that you own, can go on this chair! It is a wonderful time to be alive!”

The new line of furniture will be sold under the name “Skitstuffenhuld” and will feature chairs, sofas, and desks.

“We are to offer a large selection of furniture for you to put things on,” said IKEA Marketing Manager, Sara Sedin. “We know every house is different and every space is different so we will have many different options of furniture that can have things put on. But you must be careful and watch out for gremlins. That has nothing to do with our furniture I just want to make sure people know that gremlins are a real problem and you should always be on the lookout for them. They are very mischievous. Always causing problems. And they are smart! You can’t let your guard down even for a moment! But that has not a thing to do with IKEA furniture. I can tell you 100 percent there are no gremlins in IKEA furniture. Probably.”

The new designs are the brainchild of designer Klugenbrugensker Forsberg were inspired by a recent trip to visit relatives in the U.S.

“I was in the U.S. of A. and I went to a cousin’s apartment and I saw that they had a chair with all of their possessions piled on it and the chair was not holding the possessions well and I said to my friend that I could design a chair that would hold all of those possessions so I did,” said Forsberg. “He laughed, and then I laughed and together we laughed. Then I got to work. It was very hard trying to design something that is meant to hold all of the things, but in the end, I realized it just need to be flat and maybe have arms like a normal chair. BOOM! Problem solve. Chair now holds all of your things!”

According to IKEA, the new line of furniture is being sold only in the United States and the company is hoping the low price point of the new products will help with sagging sales and economic concerns in the U.S. market.

“The market in the U.S. is, how do you say, in the shitter?” said Borgenrt. “Is that a correct statement? I mean to say that the market… it’s like poop in a toilet. Yes? So we hope that this new line will make the poop in the market much more viscous and easy to flush. Do you understand me? My American is not very good.”

According to a leading furniture market researcher, the new product line may be the first of many multi-functional product lines to hit the market in the next six months.

“As people make less money and as things get more expensive people will be looking to downsize and opt for multi-purpose furniture such as these new Skitstuffenhuld,” said Pitor Bjronjdgfdk, leading furniture market researcher at Consumer Products. “People are going to want a chair that is also a closet and desk and junk drawer and coat rack and shelf and pantry and place to cry yourself to sleep. IKEA has cracked that code, and the market will follow, I think. Everyone will want one.”
